There are three major factors that you should consider when buying a new pair of binoculars: the magnification, the diameter of the objective lens and the type of lens coating. The higher the magnification power the more powerful is the binoculars. The bigger the objective diameter the more light is received from the distant objects. So you would need a bigger objective diameter in dark conditions. The type of lens coating determines the clarity and brightness of the viewed image. The best coating type is the fully or totally multi coating. Other types of coating include fully coated, multi coated and coated.

Most people do not realize that a pair of binoculars has much more use than they usually think. Probably the most common use for binoculars is for viewing birds, wild animals or marine mammals like dolphins, seals and whales. Binoculars can also be used at sporting events like soccer, rugby, golf, tennis and so on. Binoculars are also useful in theatre events and concerts. Another advantage is that being small and light they can be easily be used and held steadily by most children. Miniature binoculars typically have 6 to 8 times magnification.
